[The sitter is identified only as 'Miss Laltham' in the Silvy daybooks. Searching the GRO index 1837-1850, I can't find a single occurence of this surname. It is possible that this was a clerical error and the sitter's surname was in fact 'Latham,' which is a far more common surname.]
