This is possibly the Frederick Drake, 'Gentleman,' who, at Gloucester on 5 July 1859, married Mary Louisa Campbell, daughter of Alexander Campbell, a 'West India Planter.'
Born at Weighton in Yorkshire in or about 1829, he was the son of Henry Drake, who was a 'Riding Master,' according to his son's marriage certificate.
Henry and Mary appear on the 1861 census living at Cheltenham in Gloucestershire. Henry gave 'Fundholder' as his source of income.
Mary Louisa Drake, who was some fifteen years older than her husband, died at Cheltenham on 3 April 1885. She left an estate valued at £6324.
On 5 October 1885, at Prestbury in Gloucestershire, Frederick Drake married, secondly, Harriet Louisa Crossley, daughter of the late John Crossley.
The 1891 census shows the couple living at Prestbury Mansion, a boarding school for girls of which Mrs Drake, who was 18 years younger than her husband, was the 'Principal of School.' Mr Drake was 'Living on his own means.'
Frederick Drake 'of Presbury Mansion' died, aged 62, at Streatham on 23 December 1891 (Gloucester Citizen, 28 December 1891). He was buried in Prestbury on 28 December 1891.
