Miss Violet Campbell
(1842-1908)

Miss Violet Katherine Campbell appears on the 1861 census, aged 19, living at Niddry Lodge, Kensington, with her widowed mother, her brother and her younger sister. The head of the household was her half-brother, the barrister and polymath John Francis Campbell. Her father, Walter Frederick Campbell, had died in 1855.

At Kensington in 1870 she married Henry Wyndham West.

The couple appear on the 1871 census living in London's Eaton Square. Henry gave as his profession '2nd Counsel (Barrister practising) Recorder for Manchester & MP.'

In 1881 they were living at 15 Cadogan Place, Chelsea. Also present on the night of the census were five servants. 

Henry Wyndham West died there on 25 November 1893, leaving an estate valued at £28,291. 

Mrs Violet Katherine West died, aged 66, at the same address on 5 April 1908, leaving an estate valued at £19,406..
