Mrs Lisle Phillipps

Identified on the album page as ‘Mrs de Lisle,’ this is Mrs Laura Maria Lisle March Phillipps, daughter of the Honourable Thomas Edward Clifford and Henrietta Philippine, Baronin von Lutzow. She married the English convert to Roman Catholicism Ambrose Lisle March Phillipps on 25 July 1833. In 1863 her husband legally changed his name to Ambrose Lisle March Phillipps de Lisle. They lived at Garendon Park in Leicestershire and at Grace Dieu Manor at Belton in Leicestershire, where they raised their sixteen children.

Mrs Phillipps de Lisle died on 15 March 1896, at the age of 84.
