Colonel the Honourable Wenman Coke, MP

The Honourable Wenman Clarence Walpole Coke was born on 13 July 1828, the son of Thomas William Coke, 1st Earl of Leicester ('Coke of Norfolk') by his second wife, Lady Anne Amelia, daughter of William Keppel, 4th Earl of Albemarle.

Coke rose to the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the Scots Guards and saw action during the Crimean War. In 1858 he was returned to Parliament as one of the two members for Norfolk East, a seat he held until 1865.

Colonel Coke never married. He died, aged 78, on 10 January 1907 at 24 Devonshire Street, Marylebone. He left an estate valued at £171,296.
