Alexander Bell

[The following sitting in the daybooks is Miss Isabella Bell, presumably this sitters's daughter.]

This is possibly the Alexander Bell who appears on the 1861 census living at 16 Highbury Crescent, Islington. Born in Edinburgh in 1800, at the time of the census he was a 'Widower' and 'Merchant.' Also present on the night of the census were four adult childen, including his youngest daughter, Isabella, aged 20, and four servants.

Alexander Bell died, aged 74, on 31 May 1874 at his home in Highbury Crescent.
