Born Jane Frances Alderson, her father was the Reverend Samuel Hurry Alderson of Suffolk. She was baptised on 30 October 1828 at Little Welnetham in Suffolk.

In 1859 she married Henry Gerard Hoare, seventh (and youngest) son of the Venerable Charles James Hoare, Archdeacon of Surry.

She appears on the 1871 census, living at Stanstead House, Godstone, near Reigate in Surrey, with her husband, their four children, and seven servants.

When the 1911 census was taken she was a widow living with or visiting her married daughter Cecily Lambert, wife of Udale Lambert, farmer and JP for the County of Surrey, at South Park Farm at Beltchingley in Surrey. Also present on the night of the census was Janet Gibson, described as Mrs Hoare's 'professional nurse.' 

Mrs Jane Frances Hoare 'of Stansted House Godstone Surrey' died, aged 84, on 15 March 1913 at South Park Farm, Beltchingley, Surrey. She left an estate valued at £3397.
