A pencilled inscription verso reads: 'Mildred Eva Berry, died Jan[uary] 1st 1915 / born Jan[uary] 14, 1907.' Further down the same hand has written: 'To Miss Jeannie Denton, Richmond, Indiana' underneath which another hand has added 'Miss Jeannie Denton died Aug[ust] 22, 1915.'

According to the 1910 census, Mildred's father was Roy Berry, a railroad inspector, and the family lived in Richmond, Indiana. By the time of Mildred's death, the family had moved to Logansport, Indiana. According to Mildred's death certificate, the cause of her death was appendicitis leading to peritonitis. She was embalmed prior to death (the undertaker was Kroeger & Winquist of Logansport) and she was buried at Mount Hope Cemetery in Logansport on 4 January 1915.

The print measures 4.6" by 6.5" (11.7 cm by 16.5 cm) and is mounted on a plain piece of chocolate-brown Bristol board measuring 8" by 10" (20.3 cm by 25.3 cm).
