Marie Isabelle Sophie Andrée Françoise de Paule Valera married Maréchal Pélissier in 1858. Her brother was Don Juan Valera, the Spanish diplomat, politician and writer. Their father was a Spanish admiral, and their mother, la marchesa de la Paniega, a marchioness in her own right.
