Marie Bengraff
Marie Bengraff made her debut at the Opéra in Paris in 1848. During her career she sang Inez in Donizetti's La favorita, Alice in Rossini's Le comte Ory, and Ninetta in Verdi's Les vêpres siciliennes.
In 1858 she created the role of 'une dame' in the première of Halévy’s La magicienne. She sang the role of 'une dame' in the première of Joseph Poniatowski's Pierre de Médicis on 9 March 1860.
She was married to Eugène-François Vauthrot, chorusmaster of the Paris Opéra.
She died in 1867 after a long and painful illness. The following announcement of her death appeared in Le Figaro (7 January 1867): 'Mademoiselle Bengraff, ancienne artiste de l'Opéra, est morte hier soir. Mademoiselle Bengraff avait épousé M. Vauthrot, chef du chant à ce théâtre et Professeur au Conservatoir. Les obséques de madame Vauthrot auront lieu demain lundi, à dix heures, en l'église Notre-dame-de-Lorette.'
