Pencilled inscriptions recto and verso identify the sitter. In addition, a small printed clipping pasted onto the album page below the image either identified the piece in which she is seen here, La Sorcière, ou, Les états de Blois, or at least, a production in which the compiler of the album had seen Mlle Laurent. 

A five-act drama by Auguste Anicet-Bourgeois and Jules Barbier, La Sorcière, ou, Les états de Blois was presented for the first time on 1 August 1863 at the Ambigu-Comique.
