Don Diego Coello y Quesada
(1821-1897) 

Born at Jaén in Spain on 19 August 1820, Don Diego Coello y Quesade was the Spanish ambassador in Turin between 1858 and 1860. From 1862 to 1864 he was the ambassador in Switzerland. He was subsequently in Portugal (1864-65), in Rome (1875-1876) and in 1884 he was appointed the diplomatic representative of Spain to the Ottoman Empire. On 17 May 1875, in recognition of his services, he was created the conde de Coello de Portugal.

He died in Rome on 5 April 1897.
