Countess Schulenburg

Countess Schulenburg was the grande maîtresse to the Crown Princess of Prussia, Queen Victoria's eldest daughter, known as 'Vicky' within the family.
Countess Schulenburg's name appears frequently in British newspapers during the 1860s as a member of the Crown Princess's suite whenever she came to England to visit her mother.
Born Luise Charlotte Emilie von Wallwitz on 11 December 1805, she married Levin Friedrich von der Schulenburg-Burgscheidungen. The marriage produced four children. After the death of her husband in 1842, Countess Schulenburg became a member of the Prussian (later German) royal household.
She died at Wiesbaden on 23 January1892.
