Born the Honourable Emma Stapleton, daughter of Thomas, 22nd Lord Le Despencer, on 5 May 1825 she married Charles Brodrick, who succeeded his cousin as 6th Viscount Midleton in 1848.
Viscountess Midleton died, aged 83, on 29 December 1879 at The Longhills, Lincoln. According to a brief obituary the Illustrated London News (10 January 1880): 'She was the third daughter of Thomas, twenty-second Lord Le Despencer, and sister of the late Countess of Roden, of the late Hon. Lady Pakenham, and of Anna Frances, Lady Farnham, who was killed in the great Abergele railway accident, 1868. Lady Midleton had four daughters, two of whom died unmarried; the other two are Mary Emma, Countess of Enniskillen, and Albinia Frances, wife of Alexander Samuel Leslie Melville, Esq., nephew of the Earl of Leven and Melville.'
