Bettwys-Y-Coed - Pont-Y-Pant from Road, No.2

Francis Bedford (1816-1894) was active from 1857, and produced a large number of views of England and Wales. He is widely regarded as having created some of the finest scenic and architectural views ever seen. The work of men like Bedford and George Washington Wilson of Aberdeen has provided us with invaluable information concerning many historical buildings which have now long since vanished or fallen into disrepair.

The views published by Catherall & Pritchard fall into two series, 'Chester Illustrated' (55 views) and 'North Wales Illustrated' (205 views), this particular example coming from the latter. Bedford displays his usual skill in the placement of the tiny figures on the bridge in the background.
