| An interior shot of one of the reception rooms in the Tuileries Palace, which was burnt down during the Paris Commune of 1871 (see cdv032 at the bottom of page 4 of the carte-de-visite section for further details). the friezes along the ceiling of the main room have been hand-tinted in shades of blue. The flames of all the candles in the three chandeliers and all the wall sconces have been pricked out with extreme delicacy and the overall effect is enchanting. All in all, a view with an excellent stereoscopic effect and a great feeling of depth and perspective. [Photographer unidentified.] The internet isn't perhaps the best possible medium for displaying tissue stereoviews, and I would draw your attention once again to my guarantee that no sales are final, and should you decide on arrival that you simply do not like your purchase, you will receive a refund of the price of the photograph. |
