| A carte-de-visite showing a young male circus performer sitting on a drum, dressed in a vaguely Chinese costume and with his hair hidden by an artificial pate.
Photographed by S. Bureau of 44, Palais Royal and 28, rue Montpensier, Paris. Victor Stanislas Bureau established a studio in the rue Rivoli at the end of the 1850’s, later moving to the Galerie Montpensier. From the end of the 1870’s to the end of the 1880’s, the studio was operated under the name of Bureau Frères; this carte dates from the late 1860’s or early 1870’s. |
