|A carte-de-visite showing a group of men eating a meal presented on a tray on the floor of the photographer's studio.
An inked inscription verso in a period hand reads: ‘Turcs prenant leur repas / Egypte, 1869’ [Turks taking their meal / Egypt, 1869]. There seems no reason to suppose that the men are Turkish rather than Egyptian.
condition: The print shows a few small imperfections in the area of the background but has very good tonal range. The mount has crisp edges and sharp corners.
