Edouard Gassier
A carte-de-visite portrait of the bass-baritone Edouard Gassier (1823-1871).

Gassier made his debut in London at the Theatre Royal in 1855. He first appeared in the United States in 1858.

His wife, Madame Josefa Gassier, was a celebrated soprano.

Edouard Gassier died of yellow fever in Havana on 15 December 1871 (some sources say 18 December).

condition: The print presents a few small imperfections in the area of the background and
a slight loss of tone along its right-hand edge but is otherwise in excellent condition. The
mount is firm and very clean, with crisp edges and sharp corners.
