Crown Prince Friedrich of Prussia
A carte-de-visite portrait of Crown Prince Friedrich of Prussia, known as ‘Fritz’ within the family, husband of Queen Victoria’s eldest child, Vicky, the Princess Royal. The couple were married on 25 January 1858 at the Chapel Royal, St. James’s Palace. The bridegroom turned out to be the favourite of all Queen Victoria’s sons-in-law. When he finally succeeded to the throne as Emperor Friedrich III in 1888, he was already dying of throat cancer and only reigned for three months.

Photographed by Hermann Selle of Potsdam.

condition:  The print presents a couple of small imperfections in the area of the background but is otherwise in excellent condition. The mount presents one small, black ink stain on its reverse but is otherwise clean and firm.
