A small collection of seven gelatin silver prints showing construction of the Paris Metro between 1906 and 1910. All the views are fully identified and dated by captions printed in the lower margin. The title of the series, Construction du Chemin de Fer Métropolitan Municipal de Paris, is printed in the upper margin of each mount.

Photographer(s) unidentified.

The prints measure approximately 6.8” by 9.1” (172 mm by 230 mm) or the reverse. The mounts, which are of stiff, firm Bristol board with printed details in the upper and lower margins, all measure 10.5” by 13.4” (267 mm by 340 mm) or the reverse.

condition: Barring a small amount of silver mirroring and discolouration here and there, the prints are by and large all in excellent condition with very good tonal range. Some of the mounts show a little foxing,
and one or two of their corners are slightly soft. One mount, the one supporting the print showing the ceremony at street level – actually a visit from the Corporation of the City of London – is stained a little more than the others.
