An unusual post mortem portrait showing four young women, probably sisters of the deceased child, standing at the four corners of an infant's open coffin. The women are all dressed in a pale colour, presumably white, and each is wearing a hat and a pair of dark gloves.

Photographer and location unidentified, but almost certainly American in origin.

The print measures 8" by 5.9" (205 mm by 149 mm) and is mounted on a slightly larger piece of firm, stiff card.

condition: There is an area around the face of the mourner standing at the back on the right where the tones of the print have
lost their colour. The photograph would otherwise be in excellent condition.
