A matt silver print showing a dead child sitting in a wooden chair decorated with flowers and leaves. The odd angle at which the child's been photographed, and the dark shadow on the right of the chair, suggest that the chair has been tilted over so that its back is resting on the floor, and that the camera is pointing down - vertically - on the subject.

Photographed by Franciso Pandolfi, a hairdresser and photographer of Daireaux [about 250 miles from Buenos Aires] in Argentina, according to details crudely printed in the lower margin. Judging from the design of these, the photograph dates from around the turn of the century.

The print measures 4.5" by 3.2" (114 mm by 82 mm) and is mounted on a slightly larger, irregularly shaped mount.

condition: The print has limited tonal range and the mount is a little foxed.
