Born Lady Harriett Blanche Somerset in 1810 or 1811, the seventh of the eight daughters of the 6th Duke of Beaufort, on 9 August 1833 she married Randolph Stewart, son of the 8th Earl of Galloway. The following year, at the death of his father, her husband became the 9th Earl of Galloway. Lady Galloway is seen here with three of her ten children.

The portrait appears in the album of Augustus Gough-Calthorpe, Lady Galloway’s nephew. His mother, Lady Charlotte Sophia Somerset, was one of Lady Galloway’s older sisters.

Lady Galloway died on 25 May 1885.
