Lady Beatrix Jane Craven was born on 8 August 1844, the fourth daughter of William Craven, 2nd Earl of Craven, and his wife Lady Emily Mary née Grimston. On 16 May 1865 she married George Henry Cadogan, the eldest son of the 4th Earl of Cadogan. The marriage produced nine children. Her husband succeeded his father on 8 June 1873 and thenceforth Lady Beatrix was styled Countess Cadogan.

She died on 9 February 1907, aged 62, at Culford Hall in Suffolk.
