Probably Marriott Simpson Carson, born at Paddington in 1853, the son of James and Sarah Carson. His father owned extensive estates, including coffee and sugar plantations, in Jamaica. The family appear on the 1861 census, living at Spinfield, a house in Great Marlow, Buckinghamshire.

On 1 January 1874 he married, at Halfway Tree Church, Saint Andrew's, Jamaica, Miss Florence Mary Vernon Cox, third daughter of the Hon. Colonel John Williams Cox, C.B., Commanding H.M. Forces in the Island of Jamaica, and grand-daughter of the late Sir William Cox, of Coolcliffe, Co. Wexford.

Marriott Simpson Carson died on 16 June 1877 at Park Cottage, Gerrard's Cross, Bucks. He was twenty-four years old.
