| Given the context of the album, this is almost certainly a sister of Sir Charles Mordaunt and John Murray Mordaunt. There are two candidates for a more precise identification, Mary Augusta Mordaunt, born in 1839, and Alice Mordaunt, born in 1844. Given the apparent age of the sitter in this portrait, she is, I think, more likely to be the elder girl.
In 1879 she married the Rev. Humphrey Farren Hall (died 1910), Rector of Pylle in Somerset. She died in 1924. From an album probably compiled by either George Charles Pratt (1799-1866), 2nd Marquess Camden or by his son, John Charles Pratt (1840-1872), from 1866 3rd Marquess Camden. |
