Mrs. Henry Edward Fane

Volume 2, page 125, sitting number 1800.

Possibly Sarah Hester Hamlyn-Williams (c.1825 - 19 May 1869) who married Lieutenant-Colonel Henry Edward Hamlyn-Fane (c.1821-1868) on 9 April 1850. The couple had seven children. Their fifth child Constance inherited Avon Tyrell on the death of her mother and was married to the 3rd Lord Manners whose grandson still lives at Avon Tyrrell.

The image that appears in the daybook differs slightly from that which is seen here. In that one, the book in Mrs. Fane's right hand has gone, her empty right hand is resting lightly on the corner of the chair-back, and her left hand is hanging down by her side.

condition: Very fine, despite slight loss of tone towards the upper edge.
