Major Bredin of the Royal Artillery. Probably Major Edgar Grantham Bredin of the Royal Artillery (15th Brigade). According to a "Return of an Officer's Marriage" made at Barbados on 8 February 1865 and now in the archives at Kew, Bredin was thirty-five when he married Mary Elizabeth Colquhan on 15 November 1864 at St. John's Church, Ryde [Isle of Wight].

An "Index to Bengal Marriages 1874-1896" on the internet shows a later marriage to Elizabeth F. Dunn in 1878.

In 1898 his name appeared in a list of the residents of Simla [India].
