| A pencilled inscription verso identifies the sitter as Mlle. Buller of the Opéra and the role as that of a page in Pierre de Médicis. Written by the Polish prince Joseph Poniatowski, the opera included a ballet titled Les Amours de Diane in its second act. It premièred at the Salle Le Peletier on 9 March 1860. |
