| A caricature of Disdéri by Van den Acker, a version of which appeared in the Journal amusant on 11 August 1860. Ridiculed for his prominent beard, his bald head and the exotic tunic he donned when operating, his showmanship earned him a reputation as an egotist and a dandified poseur.
The caption, N'Bougeons plus!!, a phrase coined by Disdéri, may be translated as "Hold it!!" |
