The Honourable Mrs Francis Grimston
(1822-1879)

Born in or about 1822, Katherine Georgiana Morier was the fourth daughter of John Philip Morier, at one time Minister at the Court of Dresden, and Horatia Maria Seymour, daughter of Admiral Lord Hugh Seymour.

On 1 February 1847 at St George's Hanover Square she married the Honourable and Reverend Francis Sylvester Grimston, son of the 1st Earl of Verulam. Her husband was the Rector of Wakes Colne in Essex.

She appears on the 1861 census living with her family in the Rectory at Wakes Colne. Also present on the night of the census were her three sons and three daughters, a governess, a nurse, a nursery maid, a lady’s maid, a cook, a housemaid, a kitchenmaid and a footman.

The Honourable Mrs Grimston died on 2 March 1879 at Redcliffe Gardens, Fulham.  

'The Hon. Mrs Francis Grimston, widow of the Hon. and Rev. Francis Sylvester Grimston, youngest son of the James Walter, first Earl of Verulam, by Lady Charlotte Jenkinson, only daughter of Charles, first Earl of Liverpool, died on the 2d. inst. at her residence in Redcliffe-gardens. The late Mrs Grimston, who was the fourth daughter of the late Mr John Philip Morier, had been a widow since Oct. 1865' (Morning Post, 7 March 1879).
