Sir William Wellesley Knighton

Sir William Wellesley Knighton, 2nd Baronet, was the only son of Sir William Knighton, MD, GCH., 1st Baronet, (1776-1836). Born on 20 January 1811 at Hanover Square, London, he was educated at Charterhouse and Christ Church Oxford (BA 1831, MA 1836). He succeeded his father on 11 October 1836. From 1861 to 1865, he was Captain of the 12th Hampshire Rifle Volunteers. In 1874 he was Sheriff of Hampshire.

He died on 13 March 1885 at Blendworth Lodge near Horndean 'in the County of Southampton.' He left an estate valued at £159,680. 

After his death, his collection of pictures, engravings and plate was sold at Christie's for £9,589 in a three-day sale on 21, 22 and 23 May 1885.
