Henry Le Marchant

Born on 15 February 1839 in Marylebone, he was the eldest son of Sir Henry Denis Le Marchant , 2nd Baronet (created 1841), of Chobham Place, Surrey. Educated at Eton and Christ Church, Oxford (MA), in 1865 he became a barrister (Lincoln's Inn). He married in 1869 the Honourable Sophia Strutt, daughter of Lord Belper. Their marriage produced five sons and one daughter. Le Marchant succeeded his father in 1874. He died on 21 January 1915.

He appears on the 1861 census, aged 22, unmarried and living at Chobham Place with his parents, an older sister, and a younger brother.

The 1881 census shows him living at 16 Pont Street, Chelsea, with his wife Sophia, five children, a governess, and eight servants. He gave his profession as 'Baronet.' The 1891 census shows him at Chobham Place with his wife, Sophia, five children, and six servants. He gave his profession as 'Mercantile Banker.' When the 1901 census was taken he was living at 44 Pont Street, Chelsea, with his wife, Sophia, four children and six servants. Once again he gave his profession as 'Merchant Banker.'

Sir Henry Denis Le Marchant died on 21 January 1915 leaving effects valued at £92,284.
