Miss Louisa Finch
(1834-1914)

Volume 1, page 87, sitting number 552.

Identified in her cousin's album as 'Miss Finch,' this is Louisa Finch, daughter of George Henry Finch and Lady Louisa Somerset, fifth daughter of the 6th Duke of Beaufort.

She appears on the 1861 census, unmarried and living at her father’s house, Burley-on-the-Hill, near Oakham in Rutland. At the time of the census, she gave her age as 27, so she was born in or about 1834. She gave her place of birth as London, Middlesex.

In 1871 she was still at Burley-on-the-Hill, only now the head of the house was her brother, George Henry Finch, who gave his profession as 'Member of Parliament.'

In 1901 she was 'living on [her] own means' at 51 Thurloe Square in South Kensington with a lady's maid, a parlourmaid and a cook.

Miss Louisa Finch died, aged 80, on 28 July 1914 at her residence in Thurloe Square. She left an estate valued at £13,767.
