Miss Marianne Bonar
(1822-1887)

Marianne Bonar was born in Paris on 15 October 1822 and was christened in the chapel of the British embassy there on 31 December 1822. Her father was Thomson Bonar (1780-1828) of Elmstead Lodge, about two miles south of Bromley in Kent, and her mother was Anastasia Jessey née Guthrie, daughter of Matthew Guthrie of Halkerton, MD.

On 21 July 1864 Miss Bonar married Henry John Arthur Lockwood at Paignton in South Devon. The couple appear on the 1881 census living at Saxonbury Lodge, Ryde, Hampshire. Mr Lockwood gave as his profession 'Retired from Diplomatic Service.' 

Mrs Marianne Lockwood died on 29 June 1887 at Wiesbaden in Germany. She left an estate valued at £6807.
