Miss Emily Towneley

[The Silvy daybooks identify the sitter as 'Miss Townley' [sic], but she was correctly identified on the album page, including both her maiden name and her married name.]

Born in or about 1840, Emily Frances Towneley was the second daughter and co-heiress of Colonel Towneley of Towneley in Lancashsire, by his wife, Lady Caroline Harriett Molyneux, daughter of the 2nd Earl of Sefton.

On 6 August 1863 she married Captain Lord Alexander Francis Charles Gordon-Lennox, commonly called Lord Alexander Lennox, fourth son of Charles, 5th Duke of Richmond and Lady Caroline née Paget, eldest daughter of the 1st Marquis of Anglesey.

She died on 31 December 1892 at her residence in Pont Street, Chelsea.
