Mrs Frederick Granville and child

This is possibly the wife of Major Frederick Granville, formerly of the 23rd Royal Welsh Fusiliers. Born Frederick D'Ewes in 1810, he had assumed the surname Granville in 1826 on the death of his great-uncle.
Baptised at Brailes in Warwickshire on 1 December 1832, Isabel Sheldon was the daughter of Edward and Marcella Sheldon.
On 17 June 1854 at St George's, Hanover Square, 'Isabel, daughter of the late Edward Ralph Charles Sheldon, Esq., of Brailes House, Warwickshire' married 'Frederick Granville, Esq., late Major in the 23rd Royal Welsh Fusiliers' (Oxford Journal, 24 June 1854).
The couple appear on the 1861 census living at 3 Beauchamp Walk, Leamington Priors, Warwickshire. Frederick was now a 'Lt.-Colonel 2nd Warwick Militia.' The couple had no children yet and the household included three servants. Isabel was 28 and Frederick was 51. The census also records a visitor staying with the Granvilles that night, Vincent P. Calmady, 'Landed Proprietor.'
In 1881 Frederick and Isabel were living at Vicarage House, Cornwood, Devon. The household included five servants. Also present that night: Vincent P. Calmady, 'J.P. for Devon.'
Frederick Granville, 'of Ivy Bridge in the County of Devon Lieutenant-Colonel of the 2nd Warwick Militia' died, aged 75, on 15 October 1885 at Ivy Bridge. He left an estate valued at £769.
Vincent Pollexfen Calmady 'of Tetcott, North Devon' and Isabel Granville 'of the Vicarage, Ivybridge, and daughter of the late Edward Sheldon, M.P, of Brailes House, Warwickshire' were married on 22 September 1887 at St James's, Piccadilly (Belfast News-Letter, 26 September 1887).
Mrs Isabel Calmady 'of Great Tree, Chagford, Devonshire' died on 16 December 1906 at Symond's Hotel, 34 Brook Street, Mayfair. She left an estate valued at £15,683.
