Mrs Burton Borough
(1820-1907)

Born Elizabeth Charlotte Roberts-Gawen in Brussels in or about 1820, her father was Admiral Roberts-Gawen. [His portrait appears on page 37 of this section.]

On 11 July 1848 at St James's in Piccadilly she married John Charles Burton Borough of Chetwynd Hall in Shropshire. 

Mr and Mrs Burton Borough appear on the 1861 census, visitors at Tottenham House, Great Bedwin, Wiltshire, where their hosts were the Marquess and Marchioness of Ailesbury. 

A directory of 1871 describes their residence at Chetwynd Cassey in Shropshire. 'Chetwynd Park is the residence of John Charles Burton Borough, Esq., J.P.; the mansion is a handsome and spacious building; the park is well stocked with deer, and has a mere about 30 acres in extent. John Charles Burton Borough, Esq., is lord of the manor and chief landowner.'

Mrs Elizabeth Charlotte Burton Borough died on 2 December 1907 at Spring Grove, Milverton in Somerset. She left an estate valued at £43,445.
